How it began....
For a while we were looking around to find an older half-timbered house in Rumbach to change it into a vacation cottage, because they are dear to our hearts. In 2008 we decided to buy the house in our street, which was empty for 7 years. But we knew that it was impossible to renovate it and we broke it down. Instead we wanted to build - after old tradition but modern - a log home.

Alas, we were not allowed to build in this form and we decided to build a wood frame house with german wood. We wanted a house friendly for allergic people and abstained from carpets and pets. Most of all we wanted to build for the future. Ground floor and surroundings are on a ground level and wheelchair accessible, the house is build as a low energy house with a air-heat pump.
But what name should the house get ?
By chance we discovered an old map from 1751 with the old name of the field name of this area, which is today called only "the corner". For centuries it was called "flower corner" until the flowers were forgotten. From old books we learnt that flowerfields were used to get flower seeds for the ha fields and corners were overhanging rocks called, like the one at the village entrance ahead. Thus we want to revive the old name with new life.
Also the people who had lived in the old houses should not be forgotten
The first known owners were Michael Schenk and his wife Elisabetha. They sold the house in 1810. To honor them one Appartment is called "Lisbeth". The last owner lived in 5th generation and all her life in the house. For her remembrance the other Appartment is called "Luis".
In the garden you´ll find some of the old sand stones, the fruit trees, which "were always there", in the house some pictures and some things from the past.
